System Addict

When I sit back and review how the business has gone in the last 5 years I can see now how my role has drastically changed. I’ve gone from someone trying to wear all the hats and doing all the work into a more specialised role which orchestrates instead. This means that I get more time to spend working out how the business should work – systemising it.

By systemising key aspects of the process, I make it easier for other people to be involved in the business, doing aspects which I currently do, allowing me to work on the areas where I can add the most value & giving me an exit strategy.

Exit strategy you say?

Yes, I love the work I do but it’s important to focus on the longer term. Where do I want the company to be in 5 to 10 years time?

My best vision of this is to have a small, full time team augmented by specialist freelancers & associates. The company will still be focused on helping professionals & business’ use their web to their advantage – whether that be websites or whatever.

My role will be adding my 2p to projects (especially at the outset) and getting involved as and when needed but then stepping out of the way and allowing people to get on and do their jobs.

Indeed, maybe the company has been sold or I’ve been bought out – either way that’ll be a lot easier if I’m not essential to every single step the company makes.

And I’ll be aiming for my time to be spent networking, collaborating, writing, creating, content, learning, teaching, helping, personal projects, & having fun with friends & family.

That’s the plan anyway :)
